Covenant

There is a bond stronger than friends, family or country.  This bond is available for us as we understand and receive our
covenant with God.  Covenant, as God defines it, is an unshakable, unchangeable agreement requiring responsibility,
support and reciprocal action on the part of each of its' participants.  God is unconditional Love and the unchanging,
unerring Truth.  That makes His covenant with us  irrevocable.  The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to
remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”
Genesis 9:16

The first occurrence of covenant is with Adam.  Before friends, family or country existed there was God’s covenant with
man.   Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of
the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth … Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be
fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it” Genesis 1:26a/28a  That covenant says “I [God] will make man to be like Me,
give him dominion over the earth, and bless him.”  It establishes God’s “responsibility” to create, empower and bless
mankind. It also establishes man’s reciprocal responsibility to be faithful to God, exerting his God-given dominion, resulting
in fruitfulness to the Glory of God.  God gave Adam the garden, the tools and the power to grow.  Adam’s part was to give
God glory, work the tools and keep the “snakes” out.  In every  covenant, there are blessings (benefits) that come as result
of the ''contract”, and there are curses.  The resulting curse if one party broke covenant, was death, even in God's covenant
with Adam (mankind).  God would never and WILL never  break  covenant.  Now, here is the awesome thing about our God;
even though mankind did break covenant and brought the curse of eternal death upon himself, God paid the price through
the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus.  He never broke covenant, but He took responsibility for our mess, died FOR us, so the
covenant could be restored.  Oh, what an awesome God we serve!  That should give us great confidence in His statement:
I will never leave you or forsake you.”  It is a covenant promise.

When we receive the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ, we are restored (positionally) to the original “Garden of Eden
status.”  God ...has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness... (2 Peter 1:3) in order to have an EDEN
experience.  As we learn to follow Him, walking in the godliness and dominion that He has given, He teaches us how to
believe and receive the manifestation of those things that pertain to life in this earth realm.  Now may the God of peace who
brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus
Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
Hebrews 13:20-21

Throughout Jesus' earthly ministry, He was continually looking for men and women to respond to Him in revelation of that
covenant.  When He went to John to be baptized, he was expecting John to operate in Eden-dominion.  Then Jesus came
from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him.  And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by
You, and are You coming to me?”  But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to
fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.  Matthew3:13-15  To fulfill ALL righteousness?  Fulfilling what God deems
right meant restoration of the dominion that was Adam’s in the Garden of Eden.  Once John exerted earthly dominion to
baptize Jesus in water, covenant was reestablished that would allow Jesus to bless men with the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
According to the promise, that blessing would produce the fruits of the Spirit and we would multiply that fruit and fill the
earth.  Reread , and meditate on these truths.

Look at Matthew 1:18-20:  After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with
child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was
minded to put her away secretly.  But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a
dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of
the Holy Spirit.  When Joseph took Mary as wife, he adopted the unborn child as his son and included him into the linage of
David.  God was reaching out to man.  Joseph “reached back” through his act of responsibility and dominion, and gave God
the opening to restore the Eden covenant.  But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born[a] of a
woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
Galatians4:4-5  Joseph disregarded the circumstances and believed God.  Once that covenant was in place, all mankind
was in position to receive adoption through Jesus by God sons and daughters.  The fruit of that adoption is eternal
salvation. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry
out, “Abba, Father.” Romans 8:15  God sees us through the “eyes”, or understanding of the covenant He made with Adam.
As “born again believers” we are in the Eden covenant with God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and with the rest of The Body
of Christ.

In our interactions with others, we have three levels of commitment: association, relational, and covenant. Association is the
least committed and most common.  People are often part of a group, having minimal responsibility to that organization or
its people.  Relational is somewhat committed, often including exchange of ideas with some common goals.  Relational
interaction is conditional.  The agreement, with it’s “promises”, can end if the conditions change.  God-inspired covenant is
the most committed form of interaction; including grace, forgiveness, unconditional love and personal sacrifice for
someone other than ourselves.  God-authored covenant doesn’t change.  But he honors those who fear the LORD;  He who
swears to his own hurt and does not change; Psalm15:4 / “ For I am the LORD, I do not change; Therefore you are not
consumed, O sons of Jacob. Malachi 3:6

Covenant that can withstand external change will strengthen friendships, solidify family relations, and grow unshaken
patriotism.  When we take the firm position of God-given dominion within the Covenant, and the unshakable belief that we
receive the blessing from the Lord, all sides of the covenant relationship bear fruit and multiply .  We have God’s
unchangeable Word on it!

Love In Christ,
