Thanksgiving To God
We pray, in Jesus Name that you would RIGHT NOW [this very moment as you read this Word] be enriched in everything to all
bountifulness which causes thanksgiving to God. (see 2 Corinthians 9:11)
Giving thanks and being thankful may seem to be very much the same, but they are two very different things. Thanksgiving, or
giving thanks, is an action. It is something we do for or give to someone [like God]. On the other hand, being thankful is a
personal condition or feeling. Both are notable qualities, but thanksgiving is of greater significance in the Bible. The KJV lists
the word thankful only 4 times, with only two occurrences pertaining to being thankful to God. Giving thanks occurs 55 times in
the Old Testament and 45 times in the New Testament.
There is great power in giving thanks to God which goes far beyond our natural feeling of thankfulness. Being thankful is a
blessed way to feel, but has the potential to change as circumstances change. The vital truth to understand is that giving
thanks *in all conditions and circumstances raises us up to a higher place with God to overcome our circumstances. Now
thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in
every place. (2 Corinthians 2:14) [*note: we do not give God thanks FOR our situation or troubles, but rather give Him thanks
for helping us through them]
Thanksgiving is a free will offering. And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will.
(Leviticus 22:29)
Thanksgiving is a key to entering His gates of authority. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name. (Psalm 100:4)
Thanksgiving is a part praise. Sing unto the LORD with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God: (Psalm 147:7)
Thanksgiving is part of prayer. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your
requests be made known unto God. (Philippians 4:6)
Thanksgiving is an extension of His promises. Saying, We give thee thanks, O LORD God Almighty, which art, and was, and
art to come; because thou has taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. (Rev11:17)
Thanksgiving is holy remembrance. Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and
power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. (Revelation 7:12)
In all, thanksgiving is our surrendered, free will offering of gratefulness to God. It is giving grateful recognition for his power
and promise and provision for deliverance, healing, restoration, prosperity and revival. Giving thanks always for all things unto
God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; (Ephesians 5:20)
We pray your Holiday season is one filled with His peace, health, prosperity and provision; keeping your eyes on the Lord,
giving Him thanks in every remembrance. In Jesus Name.
In Christ,
Gregory and Linda Emler
