Talking With the Creator

Thank God we are to spend the rest of eternity with Him in Heaven, healing us, delivering us, providing for us, protecting us,
and all of the other wonderful things He has done, our God has made it possible for us to communicate with Him.  Now, some
might say, “Yeah, I know that”.  There have been times in my Christian walk that I’ve taken it for granted.  God says, “No
temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man…” (1 Cor. 10: 13), so I KNOW that if you examine your heart,
you’ll discover you have taken this gift for granted, too.  Consider, if you will, us (Smart though we may be) talking with the
Creator of the Universe.

It is a great miracle!  God has given you and me the ability to hear and understand what He has to say to us!  Why would He do
a thing like that?  He did it because He really truly loves us.  He cares about us.  He never intended for us to walk through our
existence here on earth separated from Him, trying to make our way through “the best we know how.”  He wants to help us!
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help (or, “an abundantly available help”) in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)

“Wow!  The One Who, knows everything, is all-powerful and created everything; the One Who keeps everything running by His
wisdom and power really wants to help me?”   Yes!  And not just when you find yourself in trouble and you can’t figure out how
to get out of it by yourself.  He wants to have a relationship with you.  He wants to have an ongoing conversation with you
throughout every day, in every situation.  He wants to warn you before-hand so you can AVOID troubles and pitfalls.

If you have never experienced this kind of relationship with God, here are three steps to get you started in the most exciting,
powerful and fulfilling relationship you will ever experience:

1.  Invite Jesus Christ into your life as your Savior and LORD.
“Jesus said…, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one
comes to the Father except through Me.’” (John 14:6)
It’s simple.  The only way to really know God is by receiving the sacrifice
that Jesus made for all of us on Calvary. God is Holy.  Every person (except Jesus) who has ever walked this earth has
sinned.    But, because God loves us He paid the penalty for our sins.  When we invite Jesus into our lives, the precious Blood
that He shed washes us clean from every sin.
“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him” (2 Cor. 5:21)
Jesus was our substitute.  He not only took our sins, but He became sin, so that we
might become right with God.  Yes, Jesus made right everything that WAS wrong with you.  As far as God is concerned you are
ALL RIGHT.  So now, you and I can,
“…come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in
time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
“Well, what if I mess up and sin again?”  That’s the advantage of having a relationship with
Him.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:
9)

2.  Read God’s Word (The Bible) daily.  Here are a few reasons why:  Psalm 18:30  As for God, His way is perfect; the word of
the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. Psalm 33:4  for the word of the LORD is right, and all His work is
done in truth.

Proverbs 4:20-22  My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.  Do not let them depart from your eyes;
Keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh.
Hebrews 4:12a for the word of God is living and powerful
…God gave His servant, Joshua, this piece of advice:  “This Book of
the Law (God’s Word) shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do
according to all that is written in it.  For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” (Joshua
1:8)  Enough said!

3.  Receive the Holy Spirit.  In Luke 11:13 AMP, Jesus said, “If you then, evil [compared to God] as you are, know how to give
good gifts [gifts that are to their advantage] to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to
those who ask and continue to ask Him!”
I think some people are afraid to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit, because they
think they will become possessed, like those who are demon-possessed.  But, in this scripture our Lord and Savior assures
us that the Holy Spirit is good, because our Heavenly Father only gives good gifts to us, His children.  The Holy Spirit is the
third PERSON (not thing) of the Trinity.  He is God; therefore, He is good.

Let’s look at some of the benefits of knowing and walking with the Holy Spirit:
John 14:26 AMP But the Comforter (Counselor,
Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to
represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to
your remembrance) everything I (Jesus) have told you.
As Christians, we need someone to Comfort us, to counsel and help
us, to intercede for us and to be our advocate, to strengthen and stand by us.  We need to be taught how to live for God in this
earth, and to be reminded of what Jesus has said, because sometimes we forget (well, maybe YOU don’t, but I sure do).   We
also need the power that comes from the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 1:8 AMP:
But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you
shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.

How do I “get” the Holy Spirit?  ASK!  Just like it says in Luke 11:33 (see above) “…how much more will your Heavenly Father
give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him.”

Let’s remember, and thank God every day for the awesome privilege of knowing Him!
