Jesus supports you!
Merriam-Webster defines support as, “to carry.” Synonyms include uphold, advocate, back, champion. The dynamic of
support means to favor actively one that meets opposition. ©1999 Merriam-Webster, Inc. Godly support moves beyond the
definition of what I may be able to offer you with my resources, and soars into what we may be able to do together, in unity,
with God’s resources!
God not only increases the capacity of our support, but defines it in a specific order of importance.
1] Prayer – “the fervent prayer of the righteous avail much” (James 5:18) Prayer is the key to having the perfect will of God
accomplished in our lives. Prayer support must be a priority in life. Scriptural prayer is the only way to get God’s wisdom and
see His perfect will done in our lives.
2] Fellowship – “not neglecting the gathering together” (Hebrews 10:25) We, as believers must come together in support of
one another. Whether in church, by letter, email or phone, communicating with each other maintains unity. It fosters
accountability and is a holy source of encouragement.
3] Network – “the Word of the Lord was published abroad” (Acts 13:49) It is essential that we work together, laying aside
doctrinal differences, and support the Good News of Jesus Christ. In doing so we celebrate our salvation in Jesus, lift Him
up and people are drawn to Him.
4] Financial – “they ministered unto Him of their substance” (Luke 8:3) Jesus provided support [loaves and fishes] and He
was supported. As someone helps others in need with physical support or sows financial seed into the Lord's work, Godly
kingdom principles are put in motion. The Spiritual law of return is in force. The windows of heaven are opened and His
blessings pour out [that is God’s support].
