Grace is a Gift

Have you ever wondered about grace?  We are not talking about the prayer we say before we eat and certainly not about
the funny lady who lived down the street.  We mean GRACE, the unmerited favor of God.  Grace is the condition of living in
supernatural health, provision, and protection that God promises in the Mosaic Covenant. (Deuteronomy 6:3)  It is the
living condition which is too often missing from many of our experiences, even though we have a better covenant, with
better promises! (Hebrews 8:6)  Why then, do we experience grace in some situations, while in others there is little or no
grace to be found?

First, we should not confuse grace with mercy.  God’s “door” is always open to His mercy.  His mercy and loving-
kindness endure for ever. (Psalm 136;all of it!)   Experiencing God’s abundant, exceedingly rich grace (Ephesians 2:7)
however, requires us to be willing to “walk” through that open door.  It is like trying to get some sun.  Although we do not
earn or qualify for sunlight, we have to get through the door and into a place, under the Sun, to get it! (Malachi 4:2)

Second, grace is a gift that is not earned. We position ourselves to be “partakers of His grace.”  When Paul was afflicted
with a thorn in the flesh, sent by Satan to hinder him, he sought God for a solution.  God said, “My grace is sufficient.”
Paul was not going to have to just live with the thorn.  As we seek and believe God for His Grace in our lives, just like
Paul, we can be delivered from every thorn and affliction Satan attempts to send our way. “For when I am weak, then I am
strong [by God’s grace]. (2Corinthians 12:7-10)

Positioning ourselves to receive the gift of grace does require faith prayer and action on our part as partakers.  Grace
through faith is how we are saved [sozo: saved, healed, cured, preserved, rescued and delivered]. (Ephesians 2:8)  The
epistles of Paul and Peter open with the prayer of grace. (Philemon  1:3), (1Peter 1:2)  We are commanded to cry,
“Grace”, to obstacles that attempt to hinder us! (Zechariah 4:7)

When we are in the place to receive His grace, then our lives are freely filled with the favor of God in situations,
relationships and circumstances.  To this end, we pray grace and peace be unto you in your life.  We believe we receive
when we pray (Mark 11:24), and thank the Lord for His grace, in Jesus’ Name.  Amen.
